

Chicken Guy! is a fast-casual concept developed by TV star Guy Fieri and Planet Hollywood Intl. In 2018 we worked with our longtime clients Robert Earl and John Thall alongside Fieri to design the Chicken Guy! prototype and we opened the first location in Disney Springs. This year we opened three locations and have several more in the works.

BTI Partners 52-acre master-planned project Westshore Marina District has been touted as one of the top developments reshaping the future of Tampa. api(+) worked with BTI CEO Noah Breakstone and his team to design the 24,000-square-foot town center component. It earned the title of Best Retail Project from the Tampa Bay Business Journal.

We continue to work with Heather George and Anne Gooden at Lowes Foods to open locations of the award-winning Knock Knock Spirits within its grocery stores. api(+) designed the prototype in 2020. The concept has earned several awards, including two awards this year from the prestigious Retail Design Institute International Design Competition for innovation and brand activation.

Florida-based Fitlife Foods debuted a new prototype design for the opening of their first out of state store in Atlanta. Designed by api(+) alongside Fitlife President David Osterweil and Director of Product Marketing Penny Primus, the new look features colorful graphic lines that bring a vibrant energy into the space. Motivational phrases are spread throughout the store. Remodels of existing Florida locations are planned for 2022.

With 120,000 square feet of mixed-use retail, office, waterfront restaurants, and an 8-acre park and entertainment venue, Waterside Place is poised to become THE waterfront destination and entertainment hub in the Sarasota-Bradenton region. api(+) contributed to the environment with branded wayfinding and graphic communication throughout. We worked with Lakewood Ranch Commercial’s Kirk Boylston and Tom Johnson as well as Harbinger Signs.

Lee’s Marketplace is a small, growing family-owned chain of high quality grocery stores located throughout Utah. We’ve worked with Jonathan and Shari Badger since 2015 developing two new prototypes; one for their traditional stores and one for urban settings; and this year opened a remodeled store in Heber while preparing other locations to open in 2022.

When David Tornek saw the opportunity to bring his popular Miami restaurant to Tampa’s trendy Hyde Park Village, he enlisted our restaurant studio. Meat Market is a modern American steak house with a glamorous, upbeat vibe. The 6,000-square-foot hot spot opened in late 2019. In 2021, we added a 600-square-foot expansion for private events and began work on a patio dining expansion.

A fresh grocery concept has opened in Riverview, Florida. Fields & Table specializes in locally sourced produce, meats and dairy. With owners Brent + Mirna Skinner, we designed a space that encourages shoppers to explore and learn about the origins of their food. The 10,000-square-foot space includes unique features like a salsa and guacamole bar, and an extensive selection of locally provided delicacies.

Refuel is a growing South Carolina based convenience store and gas station chain with twelve locations at present. It’s known for its clean attractive environment and warm prepared foods section. We worked Refuel VP of Real Estate and Development Edmund Watkins and Director of Design Colleen Barrett to develop a new prototype. The first location opened in Chatham Park, North Carolina.

We began working with Hispanic grocery chain Fiesta Mart in 2015 when we developed a new prototype. We’ve continued the relationship remodeling stores working closely with Fiesta’s Dave Radanovich. In 2021 we worked on 20 locations. Fiesta Mart has locations throughout Texas.

LOVA is the number one dispensary chain in Colorado offering high quality cannabis products at five locations. The growing chain approached our team with a partial store design and some really great ideas. We worked with Amanda Fox, John Varsames and others from Lova’s leadership team to refine the design and produce construction documentation.

In 2021 we grew our diverse creative team welcoming six new team members!
Former longtime team member David Be rejoined as Vice President + Director of Technology. Another former team member Joan came back to bolster our architectural team. Recent SCAD graduates Camila and Alex U joined us in design services roles bringing fresh ideas and the latest technology to our work. Jade joined us as administrative and marketing assistant; You’ve likely seen her friendly face the office or heard her cheerful voice when calling our office. Our most recent addition is Sarah who has a background working with construction firms and joined our accounting team.
Each year api(+) recognizes employees who have consistently distinguished themselves for their resolve, agility, tenacity, accountability, effectiveness, pride and can-do attitude with the Tiger Award. Congratulations to our 2021 Tigers: Alex M, Jeff and Carrie!
