At api(+), we design places where life happens. From retail centers to restaurants and mixed-use environments, our work blends branding, interiors and architecture into cohesive, experience-driven environments.

We’re looking for a Retail Designer to support our team in bringing these environments to life, someone who is both creative and detail-oriented, and excited to grow within a highly collaborative studio.

This role is ideal for a designer early in their career who is passionate about retail and hospitality design and eager to contribute across all phases of a project.

What you’ll do

  • Support design teams on specialty retail, food retail, restaurant and retail center projects from concept through completion
  • Contribute to space planning, environmental design and branded environments
  • Assist with 3D modeling, renderings and visual storytelling
  • Help produce design documentation and presentations
  • Collaborate with architects, designers and consultants to bring ideas to life

What you bring

  • 3-5 years of experience, with some experience in retail and/or restaurant design
  • Degree in interior design, industrial design or related design field, or equivalent experience
  • Proficiency in SketchUp and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
  • AutoCAD and/or Revit experience required
  • Ability to think and design in 3D; rendering skills are a plus
  • Strong design sensibility with attention to detail
  • Organized, proactive and able to manage multiple priorities
  • A collaborative mindset with strong communication skills

Do these qualifications describe you?

Education + Experience

  • Bachelors Degree in Graphic Design, Industrial Design or similar experience
  • 2-5 years’ experience, branded environments and wayfinding is a big plus!
  • Robust Technical Skillset: Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop, Minimum
  • Strong design sense with an ability to create brand identities, signage, and graphics associated with retail, restaurant, developments, and civic industries.
  • Experience coordinating fabrication of signage and décor is another big plus!
  • Previous work providing presentations to clients/stakeholders, website updates, and company marketing collateral is preferred.
  • Knowledge in AutoCAD, Revit, Sketchup, and similar drafting programs is a plus, but not required.
